ASBMB Releases Statement Expressing ‘Supreme Disappointment’ with Stem Cell Ruling

http://www.asbmb.org/News.aspx?id=93480

This article is about the American Society For Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) expresses its disappointment to the U.S. District Court for hindering the research on human embryonic stem-cells in the U.S. They believe the temporary cancellation on this research will defer cures for sick Americans and scientific discoveries. Yet, the Stem Research Advancement Act of 2009 states the government will increase the research for human embryonic stem-cells. With this ruling, ASBMB believes this is a violation of advanced research. This will now limit the scientific discoveries that could've been proposed. This lawsuit is a historical mark in American science.

In my opinion, I believe it's wrong to file this lawsuit because this is a time we need cures for illnesses. I'm actually surprised scientists found the cure to the H1N1 flu so quickly. If they could find a vaccine to that, there are probably a million other cures we can discover. Also, I hope Congress overrules this ban so we can find how stem cells can affect our lives. After all, the country has wasted millions of money that didn't provide for special events.
